What else does a Flying Club do?

A flying club differs from a flying school primarily in our provision of aircraft for our licensed members to hire, and organized club activities, as well as our recreational approach to flight training operations.

Club Trips

Socialising and flying with fellow members! From short hops to Pauanui and Great Barrier Island for lunch, to longer-range missions to Cape Reinga or the Central Plateau, and multi-day experiences such as visiting Wanganui Aero Club to fly their Auster, or the popular South Island trip.

Club Competitions

Competing for accuracy in a multitude of disciplines, from precision landings to low flying (in designated Low Flying Zones), navigation challenges and aerobatics, there’s a competition for everyone. Some are student-only, most are open to all. Compete for the Club silverware and bragging rights and go on to represent the Club in the Flying New Zealand regional competitions, then perhaps even the nationals!
