Under the Civil Aviation Authority (part 61), you will require 200 hours total flight time including 100 hours Pilot in Command. The Auckland Aero Club has been training Commercial Pilots for many years and past students can be found flying all over the world in a wide variety of roles. Current members range from Boeing and Airbus pilots to flying competitive aerobatics and flying historic aircraft. Auckland Aero Club members are involved in Air show formation displays and solo displays in Spitfire and Mustang aircraft. The way we train commercial pilots is quite different from the process found in many flying schools. We have a very low student to instructor ratio. In many cases the student will be one on one with the instructor or working in very small groups. Our training also incorporates activities that many flight schools do not. As an organisation based on training competition pilots we insist on very high standards in all aspects of our flight training. We encourage our commercial students to partake in limited amounts of competition flying which required great accuracy and consistecy. We also include our commercial students in club activities such as beach landings and cross country flights that exceed the minimum required for each licence level. Auckland Aero Club pilots also have exposure to a number of different types of aircraft which again builds a broader skill base. The exposure to this range of experience and to other pilots who are not students, provides a wider range of knowledge and in our opinion develops a better pilot with a wider skill base. We are commencing a full time Commercial Pilot License course in April 2009. The course will be for a very limited number of pilots who want to train to the highest standards, (the maximum number of applicants accepted will be six). The course is offered under the New Zealand Qualifications Authority Framework and as such foreign students can obtain a students visa to participate. Additionally there is capacity for a limited number of students to train outside the full time course framework in either a full time or part time basis. The Auckland Aero Club can train students for: - Commercial Pilot License
- Multi Engine Ratings
- Instrument Flight Ratings
- Aerobatic Ratings
- Formation Ratings
