South Island Trip - November 2010
by Emma Sinnott

With weeks of planning, the 27th November finally came and we set off for what can now be described as a fantastic trip with 8/8’s of blue sky for most of the trip. The morning of the 27th Nicola, Scott and Greg climbed into JRA and Tim, Emma and a lot of baggage climbed into JAZ for a days flying that ended up in Nelson. We stopped at New Plymouth, Stratford, Wanganui and Paraparaumu before crossing the Strait and over the Marlborough Sounds before finally arriving at Nelson for the night.
The second days flying took us from Nelson into Kaikoura, where we did a bit of whale watching before heading onto Christchurch. We took off from Christchurch after a spot of lunch and headed to Alexandra before finally landing at Queenstown for the night.
The third day was a short trip over to Wanaka and to the museum before heading back to Queenstown for another night.
The fourth day we made it to Omaka from Queenstown via Kaikoura for a fuel fill up on the way.
The fifth day was across the Strait and into Wellington for the night.
The sixth day was back up the west coast via Palmerston North and New Plymouth before finally landing at Ardmore, the end of a memorable trip.

RNZAC Regionals - November 2010
The regional competitions were held up in Kaipara Flats on the 6th November. Those who got through the club competitions competed against the Northern Region to go on and compete in the National Competitions in West Melton for a week in February 2011.

Club Competitions - October 2010
The club competitions were held at Ardmore on the 3rd of October . It turned out to be an enjoyable day with gorgeous weather for all with a few clearing the fence and others going straight through it! We got some amazing landings on the day with many landing in the 40-50 points region which surprised the instructors more than they let on! Beer and a BBQ followed the competitions along with stories of who had the worst landing, who scared the instructors more and speculation on who won what. Congratulations to all who entered and good luck as they head to the regional competitions in Kaipara Flats on the 6th November.

Warbirds Open Day - September 2010
Warbirds held their open day on the 19th September to commemorate the Battle Of Britain. There were some fantastic air displays with the Spitfire, Kittyhawk, Chipmunks, Trojan, Harvard’s, Airtrainer, Extra 300 and our Grumman’s gracing us with their presence. We also got to see the Venom do a high speed taxi down the runway.
